About Ryan Borotra
Molecular biologist, deep tech founder, and venture investor with expertise in biosensor R&D, commercialization, and early-stage venture building.
I'm a molecular biologist, deep tech founder, and venture investor with a passion for translating breakthrough science into successful companies. My background spans biosensor R&D, venture investing, startup commercialization, and business development, giving me experience from the founder, investor, and commercialization perspectives.
I currently lead Sentry Labs, where we're developing next-generation graphene biosensors for rapid, field-deployable diagnostics. I also serve as a Business Development Officer at the Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G), where I work with academic, clinical, and industry partners to expand access to advanced genomics and bioinformatics services. Previously, I evaluated and supported early-stage deep tech companies through venture investing and a venture studio, conducting technical due diligence, market analysis, and commercialization strategy across biotechnology, healthcare, climate, and advanced materials.
I enjoy working with science-driven founders tackling technically ambitious problems, particularly in diagnostics, biotechnology, medical devices, genomics, advanced materials, and other deep tech sectors. I'm especially interested in helping teams refine their commercialization strategy, customer discovery, fundraising narrative, and go-to-market strategy while bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world impact.
